National Association for Senior Move Managers
2011 Conference in St. Pete Beach, Florida

Have you ever watched the TV show Hoarders. Matt Paxton and his company Clutter Cleaner is often featured on the show because he is an expert in understanding their addiction and mental illness.
We got to hear his story of growing his business and learned why he is so good with clearing out some homes that have been filled by hoarders. His staff of young men adds fun and humor to help the hoarder get through this traumatic process without overlooking the importance of compassion and patience. We also learned that his next season will have selected less sever cases of hoarders, so it will be much easier to watch since they will not show abused animals and such critical living conditions as they have in the past seasons.
As a senior move manager, I work every day with all levels of hoarding. It's most common to find large supplies of dried up rubber bands, plastic bags that had to be saved, soaps and small bottles of bathroom products taken from hotels, old large manila envelopes, pens and pencils , expired cans of food and so many items that just couldn't be tossed away. We have to accept that our parents could fall into any level of hoarding since they may have lived through the depression, or were taught the hoarding habits from someone who did.
Don't be ashamed that you find yourself hoarding at any level, learning from our parents. Today we just have to have all that stuff around us to express our own interests and who we are. Be patient with your parents and realize that they attach a story from their past to all the items they have saved. This is their way of remembering.

Giving Back

A Time To Move is proud to have participed in The Forgotten Soldiers annual packing event, sponsored by The Classic Residence by Hyatt in Lantana. The event was held in November 2009. The Forgotten Soldiers Outreach mission is to continually encourage the men and women who are abroad fighting for our great nation. Their purpose is to inspire hope, strength and courage while they are separated from loved ones, families, and friends. This outreach is committed to the American soldiers for as long as they are deployed. A Time To Move helped to pack 200 boxes of goodies for the soldiers overseas, sending items such as toiletries, food and of course encouragement letters.

The Forgotten Soldiers Outreach have been able to continue their mission over the years with monthly “We Care” packages and have sent out 40,000 individual “we care” packages to date, benefiting approximately 1,000 individuals on a monthly basis and an estimated 100,000 plus individuals serving in ALL world theaters over the years. As time goes on, the list continues to grow, with many soldiers actually now registering themselves to become monthly recipients of our program.

Donna Stone A Time To Move's owner, has dedicated her life to serving people. She has participated in many community volunteer organizations and businesses committed to helping people. This experience has instilled in Donna a desire to commit herself to serving the senior population with care and compassion.
Donna's commitment to helping seniors also comes from her personal experience. Both her mother and mother-in-law needed her help during their later years. She knows first hand that seniors in transition have difficulty making decisions and trusting others, even their families, to make decisions for them. Therefore, she is committed to taking a personalized and caring approach to each client.Donna moved to South Florida from New Jersey in 1975. She began her career as a Legal Secretary and worked in this field for 25 years. She bought and operated several successful health food stores in the mid eighties and was also a licensed nutritionist. Donna then worked with her husband, Barry in a manufacturing business and they enjoyed their time traveling the country participating in tradeshows.
Five years ago Donna met a friend who owned a Senior Moving business in Broward County. Seeing the great need in the Palm Beach area for this service, Donna decided to open her own business in Boynton Beach, Florida.
Their two children also reside in South Florida and they are the proud grandparents of one grandson.
